St Marylebone Church of England School is a girls' school that accepts boys into the sixth form. It serves a community that is subject to significant social deprivation but most students start Year 7 with academic standards that are well above the national average. About half of students speak English as an additional language (EAL). Students come from a wide variety of ethnic backgrounds: about a third of students are of White British origin, a tenth are of Asian background, and a tenth of Black heritage.  Whilst 60% of students are Christian, there is also a large Muslim population accounting for 20% of the student community.
